A succession of two climbs, the uncategorised Puente Viesgo and the first-category Collada de Brenes, are more likely to disrupt proceedings for the assault to Jano Peak. Prior the ultimate climb, sprinters can cost for intermediate factors at Santa Cruz de Iguña.
Headed in a southerly course from Bárcena de Pie de Concha with 12.6km to go, the street rises with a median gradient of seven%, with two sections at 12%, for the primary half or so to the reservoir. The street then ranges out slightly, however the respite is transient after which tilts up with gradients of 6 to 11% for the end.
